The Algarve

It is time to holiday, relax, take a break and enjoy the culture, weather and surroundings of the Algarve in southern Portugal

We are sure you have already carried out some research on where you are going to arrive, but we feel it our responsibility to help. On this page we make some helpful suggestions on things to do while visiting the Algarve.

Sightseeing - The Algarve is a beautiful area with both touristic areas like Praia Da Rocha, Albufeira, and Historic areas like Silves and Tavira. A truly modern but rural place and unlike its neighbours in Spain, the coastline, on the whole, remains full of low lying buildings and little villages.

Golf - With some of the world's best golf courses such as superb Old Course at Vilamoura or the celebrated Royal Course at Vale de Lobo, the Algarve is a Golfers Paradise. A golfer can choose from over 30 golf courses scattered around the Algarve and with an ideal climate for golf, warm and dry weather, and the main season is from late autumn to late spring.

Shopping - There are several shopping centres in the Algarve including Algarve Shopping at Guia, Forum Algarve at Faro, plus many markets including Saturdays at Loule and Wednesdays at Quarteira.

Food - The Portuguese cuisine is excellent fare of seafood, meat and fresh fruit. The Algarve offers vineyards, fruit in abundance and fishing specialities. All of these make for some wonderful dishes from Portugal. In Guia, just outside Albufeira are theFrango (Chicken Piri Piri) restaurants. Local restaurants cook many sea food dishes including fresh Sardines and Cataplana, which is a shellfish delicacy.

Water sports - With some of the best beaches in Europe and wonderful water, the Algarve offers sun lovers an all year round holiday. If you love water ports then the Algarve offers many options, from wter skiing to jet skies, paragliding, windsurfing to the milder pleasure of fishing. Vilamoura has many  options available on both Marina and beaches of  Vilamoura.
